Jamie Clemmow and Dan Marshall drew against Sevenoaks (3) in the quick-fire knock out format, but this was enough with wins against Dartford Grammar and Herne Bay to face Sevenoaks and Langley Park in the final round. Against Sevenoak's strong volleying first pair, Dan elected to receive – which with the benefit of hindsight was probably the wrong thing to do. Games were going with serve in what would have been an intriguing match had it been “proper set”, however, be that as it may, their disappointment at “only coming third” out of eighteen schools competing is a testament to their competitive spirit, which was seen in abundance during the afternoon's play.
Piers Jahn and Joe Storey drew against Sevenoaks and won all their other matches to progress to the final where they too came third. Highly impressive was the last match in the round robin where they needed a good win and defeated strong opposition 4-nil to win through on count back in games. All players have impressive early season form to be confident of a fine summer. Well done. Mr Price
