We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and outstanding Design Technology teacher to join our successful and popular department on a fixed-term basis; this role will commence in September 2025.
There has been major investment in the department over the last few years, utilising new industry standard machinery. Lessons take place in dedicated DT workshops, with facilities that are currently unrivalled in the area and would be considered rare for schools country wide.
Across both of our campuses, we are currently equipped with an excellent balance of traditional and cutting-edge technology. At each location, we are currently running 3D print labs, comprising ten rapid printers; we also have two industrial CNC machines and two industrial laser cutters. Using this equipment in conjunction with our industry standard CAD packages (Solidworks, Sketchup for Schools, Vcarve and CURA) has allowed us to deal with all aspects of design innovation from rapid prototyping through to full-scale production.
Alongside this, we also have an extremely well-resourced traditional workshop spaces and a lot of new investment in a wide range of relevant cordless equipment. Ultimately, the facilities we now have will help define DT education going forward.
The DT Department currently offers Resistant Materials in Years 7, 8 and 9 and Graphics and Sustainability in Years 8 and 9. Students can currently choose to take GCSE and A Level courses in Graphic Design or Resistant Materials. We currently have five DT teachers and two technicians. The successful candidate will teach the subject from Year 7 through to A Level. At Key Stage 4 and 5, the department follows the AQA syllabus.
We can offer you the opportunity to work with highly able young people in a supportive, well-equipped and forward-thinking school. We offer a friendly and inclusive working environment and the chance to be part of a fantastic multi-disciplinary team, who work hard and support each other to deliver personalised, bespoke education and care.
We welcome applications from creative and dynamic teachers who can contribute to this vision. Although the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of excellent teaching and learning, we also welcome applications from ECTs.
The main site for TWGSB is in Tunbridge Wells. However, you may be required to work at other campuses connected to TWGSB.
