Teacher of Science

The highly successful, thriving and popular Science department is seeking a new Science teacher to join in January 2027, ideally with a passion for Chemistry and/or Physics!

The department benefits from excellent facilities across both school sites, with 11 laboratories at the Tunbridge Wells campus and a further six laboratories at the Sevenoaks campus, all fully equipped to support high-quality teaching and learning. In addition, the department boasts a specialist laboratory dedicated to the teaching of A Level Chemistry and is supported by an experienced team of five Science technicians.

Science is a highly valued and successful subject area within the school. At Key Stage 3, students follow an adapted and extended version of the Activate Science scheme, building strong foundations across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. At GCSE, all students study separate Science GCSEs following the AQA specification. While students study general Science in Years 7 to 9, Chemistry and Physics become distinct subjects from Year 10 onwards, providing opportunities for subject specialists to develop students' knowledge and enthusiasm for their discipline.

Science remains an extremely popular choice at A Level, with strong uptake across the sciences. A particular strength of the department is its commitment to fostering scientific curiosity, analytical thinking and academic excellence, preparing students for further study and careers in STEM-related fields. Candidates with a passion for Chemistry and/or Physics, and a desire to inspire the next generation of scientists, will find an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the department's continued success.

Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys is one of the largest boys’ grammar schools in the country. In late 2021, we benefited from a multi-million pound investment, which resulted in a brand-new sports building at our Tunbridge Wells campus and the opening of our Sevenoaks campus.
